What to do After You've Submitted Your ED Applications?

ED applications have been submitted! Congrats to all who've applied early! Now that the weight of admissions is off your back for the time being, you're probably wondering what to do now while you wait to hear back. Keep reading for some ideas and steps to stay active during this period of waiting!

In college consulting, it might look like the season is over once a student submits their application. But it is far from the finish line! There is still a process that happens after a student submits their application, and even after they choose what school to go to. Our consultants are with you every step of the way. If you haven't submitted your application yet, or are just starting on your college journey, book a call with us and let us walk with you through it. We have 20 years of experience simplifying the college admissions process, and our students have been accepted to all top 20 universities with a 5.4x more chance of admission. Don't leave your future college options to chance. Book a call with us today!

If you did apply early, here's how the process will roughly go. Once your application is submitted, it's sent to the admissions team of the school for review. Ivy League admissions average 3-6 minutes per application, but each school varies slightly in how they do this process.

The next step is an interview process. This is different for each school so be sure to check individually what their policies might be. Some schools reach out to you, others you must reach out to express interest in. These interviews take place from November through early December. We always recommend our students to interview to gain a better understanding of the schools they've applied to. Interviews are conducted with either staff or alumni students. Some interviews are required, though it is a rarity. Most schools recommend an interview to learn more about the student. This is also another opportunity to explain anything not in your application, clarify something in your application, and give admissions another chance to hear your name.

We offer interview preparation with our senior package. This includes practice questions, what to wear, what to ask, and how to best present yourself when interviewing.

The next step are the results. Admissions results are announced early to mid December, usually on or before December 15th. Until results of your applications are released, a great way to not waste any time is to continue applying for scholarships through general websites, as well as beginning to familiarize yourself with the FAFSA process and application.

We hope this helps you in figuring out how to spend your time while ED applications are read and reviewed. Good luck students!
